Kindergarten

Maestra Mosqueda, Kindergarten

Maestra Mosqueda is co-founder of the Spanish Dual Immersion Program at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She has several years of experience in the primary. She holds a master’s degree in Dual Language Development from California State University Long Beach as well as a master’s degree and administrative credential in principal leadership from the University of California Los Angeles. She is a Long Beach native and LBUSD alumni. 

 

 

Maestra Luna, Kindergarten

Maestra Luna is a Dual Immersion teacher at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She has several years of experience teaching Kindergarten Dual Immersion. Maestra Luna holds a B.A. from CSULB and an M.S. in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. As a native Spanish speaker and product of bilingual education, she acknowledges and values the power of bilingualism and biliteracy. 

 

 

 

First Grade

Maestra De Leon, First Grade

Maestra De Leon is a Dual Immersion teacher at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She has several years of experience teaching in the lower elementary grades. Maestra De Leon holds a B.A. from CSUDH and a M.A. in Dual Language Development, from CSULB. Having gone through a bilingual setting herself, she is a firm believer of the advantages and values of the Dual Immersion program. 

 

 

 

Maestra Perez, First Grade

Maestra Perez is a Dual Immersion teacher at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She has several years of experience teaching Dual Immersion. Maestra Perez holds a B.A. from UCLA. Having been a part of bilingual education herself, teaching in a dual immersion setting is something she holds close to heart.  Maestra Perez is grateful for the benefits bilingual education has had on her own children's education and lives. She is a true believer that bilingualism enriches one's life experience and one's worldview.

SECOND GRADE

Maestra Monroy, Second Grade

Maestra Monroy, Second Grade Maestra Monroy is a Dual Immersion second grade teacher at César Chavez Elementary School. Mrs. Monroy has served in public education in the Los Angeles area for more than twenty-four years. She possesses a bachelor’s degree in Literature and Latin American History, a master’s degree in Multicultural Education and later she completed her administrative credential. She has taught students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. Throughout the years, she has provided extensive professional development to teachers in a variety of areas, including reading and writing instruction, reading intervention, English Language Development, and supporting English Language Learners.

 

 

Maestra Martinez, Second Grade

Maestra Martinez is a Dual Immersion teacher at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. She obtained both her B.A. in Liberal Studies and her M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction at CSULB.  

Maestra Martinez believes that the Cesar Chavez Dual Immersion program provides students with a greater appreciation and respect for other cultures and languages. She believes that being a Dual Immersion teacher gives her the opportunity to provide students with various opportunities for success. Maestra Martinez is passionate about teaching Dual Immersion because in the span of their K-5th grade education, students can acquire well-developed language and literacy skills in both English and Spanish.
